These role families describe the work we do. They are not all current vacancies.
Verstand BI engineers typically have degrees in computer science or engineering, information systems, business management or financial analysis. They meet with clients and co-workers to discuss, plan, and develop reporting and visualizations. Typically, they work with one or more toolsets such Microsoft Power BI, Tableau or Looker in a variety of different operating systems and cloud data warehouses.
Similar to data analysts, Verstand business analysts are domain experts (for example, retail, pharma, or financial services) and provide technology- and data-based solutions to optimize business processes. They conduct gap analysis, requirements gathering, and knowledge transfer to developers.
Verstand data analysts help acquire, process, manage and summarize large amounts of data, identifying the tables necessary for a use case. The analysts used by Verstand know R, Python, HTML, SQL, C++ and JavaScript. Moreover, they are proficient with data retrieval and storage systems, data visualization, data warehousing and ETL tools.
Verstand statisticians collect, organize, present, analyze and interpret data to reach valid conclusions and make correct decisions. Typically, these staff members have degrees in statistics and mathematics and can be domain specialists. Other skills include R, MATLAB, SAS, Python, Stata, Pig, Hive, SQL and Perl.
Verstand data scientists are experts in R, Python, SQL and SAS and are proficient in statistics and mathematics. Generally working from descriptive analytics toward predictive and prescriptive analytics, they deploy both supervised and unsupervised models. Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers may also design applications and algorithms such as clustering, anomaly detection, classification, or prediction for different use cases.
Verstand Data Engineers primarily identify requirements for and develop data-ingestion pipelines. They know the major cloud data warehouses and are comfortable with databases, data streaming, and batch processing. Their work also calls for knowledge of ETL tools, data APIs, and data modeling.
Verstand Cloud DevOps engineers design and develop cloud architecture systems and optimize the development and release of software applications and services. They collaborate with software developers and operations teams, especially with respect to existing networks.
